Student Insurance
If you're coming to study at a UK University, it would be sensible to get Student Insurance. It's probably best to arrange it before you travel to the UK. You can do this by arranging cover with a local firm in your home country, or via one of the specialist Insurance firms on the Internet. You'll find links to a couple of them at the bottom of this page. There will be many insurance policies from which to choose but check that they include some basic requirements such as: - Travel to and from the UK, including health cover, loss of baggage, passport, money etc. - Loss of property whilst in the UK eg. computer, phone, money and other possessions - Medical cover including repatriation to your home country in the event that you are incapacitated - Accident cover - Personal liability If you intend to rent private accommodation rather than stay in Halls of Residence, you may also need special insurance for that too, but that may be best arranged in the UK once you know what's required. The cost of your Insurance will vary depending on how much cover you take out, and for how long. Expect to pay between £100 and £200 for 12 months cover.
